Chimpanzee hand x ray1/31/2024 ![]() The presence of such SCBs affects chimpanzees’ chromosomes behavior during meiosis causing persistent subtelomeric associations between homologous and non-homologous chromosomes. SCBs predominantly consist of the subterminal satellite (StSat) repeats, they are found in African great apes but not in humans. Additionally, the majority of chimpanzee’s chromosomes contain subterminal constitutive heterochromatin (C-band) blocks (SCBs) that are absent in human chromosomes. In addition, there are numerous differences in the chromosomal organization of pericentric, paracentric, intercalary and Y type heterochromatin for example, the chimpanzees have large additional telomeric heterochromatin region on chromosome 18. Two out of nine are thought to occur in human chromosomes 1 and 18, and the other seven – in chimpanzee chromosomes 4, 5, 9, 12, 15, 16 and 17. Also, significant pericentric inversions were found in nine other chromosomes. It has originated due to a fusion of two ancestral acrocentric chromosomes corresponding to chromosomes 2a and 2b in chimpanzee. However, there is a major difference corresponding to the human chromosome 2. In general, both karyotypes are very similar. Human karyotype is represented by 46 chromosomes, whereas chimpanzees have 48 chromosomes. ![]() Here we tried to review the major known structural and regulatory genetic alterations that had or might have a functional impact on the human and chimpanzee speciation (Table 1). Moreover, even higher proportion was shaped by chromosomal inversions and translocations comprising several megabase-long chromosomal regions or even entire chromosomes, as for the chromosomal fusion that took place when the human chromosome 2 was formed. It was found that genome differences represented by single nucleotide alterations formed 1.23% of human DNA, whereas larger deletions and insertions constituted ~ 3% of our genome. ![]() However, the idea of ~ 99% similarity of genomes persisted for a long time, until 2005 when nearly complete initial sequencing results of both human and chimpanzee ( Pan troglodytes) genomes became available. This estimate was based on the comparison of protein-coding sequences and didn’t consider non-coding (major) part of DNA. In early works, divergence of human and chimpanzee genomes was estimated as roughly 1%. It’s a difficult task to quantitate the exact percentage of differences between human and chimpanzee genomes. It is still of a great interest to identify genetic elements that distinguish humans from chimpanzees and encode features of human physiological and mental identities. The divergence of human and chimpanzee ancestors dates back to approximately 6,5–7,5 million years ago or even earlier. In this review, we summarized the available information about genetic differences between humans and chimpanzees and their potential functional impacts on differential molecular, anatomical, physiological and cognitive peculiarities of these species. Most structural gene-influential changes happened at the level of expression regulation, which in turn provoked larger alterations of interactome gene regulation networks. However, despite of extensive knowledge of structural genomic changes accompanying human evolution we still cannot identify with certainty the causative genes of human identity. Moreover, much higher proportion is made by differential chromosomal inversions and translocations comprising several megabase-long regions or even whole chromosomes. Human-specific single nucleotide alterations constituted 1.23% of human DNA, whereas more extended deletions and insertions cover ~ 3% of our genome. After divergence of their ancestor lineages, human and chimpanzee genomes underwent multiple changes including single nucleotide substitutions, deletions and duplications of DNA fragments of different size, insertion of transposable elements and chromosomal rearrangements. Genetic features distinguishing us from chimpanzees and making us humans are still of a great interest. The divergence between human and chimpanzee ancestors dates to approximately 6,5–7,5 million years ago. Chimpanzees are the closest living relatives of humans.

Clothes like artful home1/31/2024 (That means you might find some great ones in thrift stores.)įrom an aesthetic viewpoint, some”artsy” types of clothing could be defined by what is called “shibui.” It is a Japanese term that identifies those things, like this pottery, that express a different, eternal, unusual, and captivating quality. The upside is that they won’t go out of fashion. The velvet may make it lean toward Romantic, but it still has a Dramatic flair because it is costume-y. That includes, for example, something like a velvet top or wrap. And except when the pattern is playful (such as something with polka dots and/or stripes) the style expresses more, well, gravitas. You won’t see body-hugging or flowing, sensuous pieces. That means you won’t be seeing them in very refined, delicate or sheer fabrics, at least not a lot of them (there are always exceptions to the rule.) The closest you might get are some of the more “boho” looks from places like Johnny Was, as is this one on the right.Īlso, there isn’t the highly tailored silhouette you would find in a Classic blazer or a button-down blouse. They have a more substantial, dynamic quality than a soft, quiet or yielding one. ![]() Think of the textiles and garments that make up this style as suggesting the earth rather than the sky. (Both this and the outfit above are from one of John Kitchener’s favorite websites, Artful Home.) The High Spirited qualities show up in patterns, pattern mixing, and unexpected elements. The Natural is demonstrated in the looser fits and more textural fabrics. The Drama is expressed in what is often an exaggeration in size and construction. If we had to describe what “artsy” means in terms of the seven basic style facets we would say that it is a combination of Dramatic, Natural, and High Spirited essences. Or, you can simply wear a more classic wardrobe piece – like a simple white blouse, sleeves rolled up – with a fabulous collection of Native American jewelry (these are from the Sundance Catalog.) Native American jewelry is intrinsically artistic.īut to get the overall look requires more than just one added element. Now, you can always make almost any outfit look a bit more “artsy” by adding a statement piece or two, such as a hand-made, or highly textural or rough-hewn necklace or bracelet. In fact, some of them actually are – they are what is called wearable art. When we see a woman wearing an outfit that is interesting, creative, and unique – we might wonder, “ Could I pull off something like that?” These “artsy” outfits often look like works of art.

This mod modifies the mouse input script to disable acceleration, as well as disabling the bEnableMouseSmoothing and/or the bUseMouseDampening option. As for games like fighting games though? You'll have to give me a really good game pad to like it over a keyboard. How to fix Mouse Acceleration issue in Mass Effect 1. With this bug, the game becomes just about unplayable with the mouse and keyboard. Players are logging into the game on Steam and finding that Mass Effect 1 suffers from a bug that causes players' mouse acceleration to spike. Ben on 18 May in Mass Effect Legendary Edition Update 1 02 Patch Notes Im hoping version 1.03 will finally fix Shepards awful running animation in Ma. That was a lot better since Sam's movement speed was set to your mouse wheel. Mass Effect Legendary Edition has a mouse acceleration problem. One exception is the Splinter Cell games on PC. You can't just gently hold it forward, backward, left or right and change the speed of your movement that way depending on how hard to press. on the WSDA all you get is one speed majority of the time, and the alternative is to set a button to walk or not. But, I never liked how on keyboards it's not like a controllers left analog. Although, personally, I don't know how it'd be hard to disagree other than if you simply didn't care. From there, it will only accept game pad input, and nothing else. Once it gets into the character creator, it thinks Im on a console. I don't think I prefer one over the other. I get to the Mass Effect launcher, and it recognizes my mouse because Press Any Key accepts a mouse click to launch the game, as it had in the original game. ![]() It could also be the case that the "bEnableMouseSmoothing" can be disabled in the gamersettings.ini and resolve it that way as well but I never bothered to try.It depends. There may be better programs but those were the first two I came across that served the purpose I needed. The programs I used to edit the files were LECoal for Mass Effect 1 and 2 (bit awkward to use as it requires using powershell commands) and ME3Coalesced for Mass Effect 3 (much more user friendly). This can also be done for Mass Effect 1 and made mouse aiming reasonable. ![]() I can't say whether you only need to change one or both of these as I didn't test beyond this once I found that my issue was resolved. What I found that did work (although there might still be some kind of minor acceleration going on that doesn't bother me, but suffice to say it's "good enough") was using one of the many coalesced editors you can find to change both "bEnableMouseSmoothing" and "bUseMouseDampening" to false, which you'll find in the "BIOInput" section of the coalesced file. So I've been playing through the games and my experience has been that even setting the mouse dampening to false in the gamersettings.ini did not remove some form of acceleration that seemed to persist after this edit (the mouse aiming would wildly change speed in certain areas and might be based on framerate but I'm just speculating).

Favourably mail mini backgrounds1/31/2024 ![]() If you do not mention the dimensions, some email clients collapse that area, and off goes your ALT text too.Īnother option that can be considered in case the image doesn’t open in emails is to set a background color as a fallback. Include the dimensions of your image – the width and height of your email image give your ALT text a display container when images are disabled. To be on the safer side, it’s always good to have an ALT text for your images. For more eye-catching email templates, click here. So before you go for an HTML email background image, it is very important that you check whether your images are sized correctly, Also, test your email in a live copy of Outlook. ![]() In case Outlook 2000 and above considers your image to be too big (size or dimensions), it might crash. The only issue that might arise is the size of the image. Here, you get an option of applying email template colorful backgrounds to the entire email as well as table cells and you can generate a code for both scenarios. But just in case you are repeating the email template background image, you can apply that in the body and top table tag with repeat property and it will render in Outlook 7, 10, 13 even without VML code. Make sure you check whether your ESPs support VML (Vector Markup Language) coding if you have a single whole background image for your email. Campaign Monitor’s bulletproof background image technique can be a good solution to this problem. The prime culprit seems to be Outlook 07/10/13, which does not support either table background email images or background-image styles. How To Add Background Images – A Bulletproof Tool So, let’s focus on a tool that will help your email background template to render across all email providers – well almost all. Best Practices to follow for Perfect Text-to-Image ratio in emails > Blocking might hamper your marketing campaign and even fail to make an impact on prospects in some extreme cases you might just end up casting an unfavorable impression on your readers.Īn improper text-to-image ratio (which is not 80:20) can be catastrophic for your email campaign if the email client blocks your images. If you attempt to have different backgrounds for different email elements, the bugs start announcing themselves.Įmail image blocking is a result of many email providers’ default settings or personal preferences provided by them. An Outlook background image, for example, displays correctly only when there’s one background for the entire email. That means acquainting yourself with the rendering rules that are associated with each client. So, if you wish to create that wow factor with background images in an email template, you need to know which ESPs will support your images and which will expect you to go the extra mile to make sure your design appears just the way you want it to. For instance, rendering an Outlook background image is a task and a half. ![]() The main issue with adding a background image in the email is that it is not supported across all email clients (image blocking). ![]() This design technique is applied well in the world of the web but, unfortunately, as far as emails are concerned, marketers are still reluctant to use this really appealing marketing tool. Simply put, mail background images accentuate the visual appeal of your email and incentivize your readers to interact with the content. Thus, brands often rely on product images and graphics to generate interest in marketing emails and adding background images is one such powerful tool used by them. Another research reveals that 92.6% of people say that the visual dimension is the primary factor affecting their purchase decision. Our brain can process visuals at an incredible speed of 0.013 seconds. You have worked hard on the content of the email now if you back it with a pixel-perfect email background image that is closely related to either your brand or the content of your email, you are adding significantly to your chances of getting better conversion rates. Background images are like icing on the cake in marketing emails.

Everspace 2 cost1/31/2024 Yes, the combat is phenomenal (more on that in a moment), but it’s very clear that Rockfish wanted a central pillar of Everspace 2 to be the game’s story thread. Unlike the first game, the team’s passion for storytelling is on full display here. Missions have been rebalanced, loot tables adjusted, and brand new quests, puzzles, and locations have been sprinkled throughout the entire game. The Early Access version contains roughly 70% of the main game, and you absolutely should start over to play through all of it at this point. If you’ve been following this game through the last two years of early access (the game has been in development for over five), then worry not – you’ve not had access to the full shebang quiet yet. While developers Rockfish tell me that you can beat the main story in 30 hours, I’m here to tell you that’s Dark Souls level of difficult – this game is 50 hours at a minimum and far, far closer to the 100 hour mark for a completionist. If you are getting the idea that this game is big, you are probably underselling it. What unfolds is something that will take you all over the galaxy, both known and unknown, across nearly a dozen star systems comprised of over 128 hand-crafted locations and sporting over four hours of voice work. Pullover snowboard jacket1/31/2024 ![]() We found that opening the rear arm vents and the chest pockets can create a nice draft. This jacket also has a few venting options for when it’s time to shed some heat on the skin track. A large, two-way adjustable hood easily accommodates a ski helmet without restricting mobility, and we love the low-profile internal cord locks. A little stretch goes a long way, especially on cold days when we had to layer a fleece and a light puffy jacket underneath the shell. In terms of comfort, our testers love the stretch factor. A fluorocarbon-free DWR treatment keeps wet snow beading off the face fabric, preventing it from “wetting out.” The shell fabric has the stretchy, comfortable feel of a soft shell, while still being waterproof. For both guys and gals, this jacket is at home on or off-piste, and performs admirably during grueling tours or chilly days riding the lift.Ĭonstructed from Rab’s proprietary Proflex material, the Khroma Kinetic balances breathability and weather resistance. The Men’s Rab Khroma Kinetic and Women’s Rab Khr o ma Kinetic ($230-385) are one of our favorite choices thanks to their versatile feature sets. The Fines and Sany Jackets also boast great pockets: four exterior zip-enclosed pockets and an interior mesh pocket. All the YKK zippers are waterproof, and the seams are fully taped, so moisture doesn’t squeeze in. The inside of the arms feature lengthy wrist gaiters with thumbholes, so it’s better to layer gauntlet gloves over the cuff. Otherwise, the amount of waterproofing plus critically taped seams is certainly on par with most skiers’ needs. The waterproof rating is also on the lower end, so beware if you plan to ski in bell-to-bell whiteout conditions, especially on back-to-back days. On warm spring days, we’re thankful for the underarm vents because the jacket can get a bit toasty - it isn’t the most breathable. We can wear a long-sleeve fleece beneath it mid-winter and feel comfortable despite windy lift rides. But it’s perfect for enjoying in-bounds terrain in a variety of temperatures. This jacket is just bulky and insulated enough that we don’t wear it backcountry skiing. That’s thanks to the body-mapped construction with recycled insulation throughout the body, sleeves, and hood, which blocks the cold in just the right spots. With high marks, we liked the jacket’s hint of warmth while sitting on the lift or skiing in below-freezing conditions. We tested our Picture jackets throughout a winter season of skiing in the Colorado Rockies where high-altitude lift rides often come with cold winds and temperatures below zero degrees. The interior liner includes recycled polyester taffeta in the sleeves and hood. To shield the elements, the PFC-free DWR is Teflon EcoElite, a plant-based repellent for textiles that wards off water as well as water-based stains. The fabric of both the Sany and Fines is 64% recycled polyester. For jackets a smidge above $200, these designs don’t leave out any of the bells and whistles. The recycled polyester face fabrics of the Picture Organic Fines Jacket for men ($235) and Picture Organic Sany Jacket for women ($225) are topped off with recycled insulation. Picture produced these two hardshells with sustainability at the forefront and friendliness for the pocketbook at the forefront. If you’re looking for a comfortable, lightweight shell that stands season after season and manages variable conditions from spring sunshine to storms, the Sabreand Sentinel are a worthy choice. Both jackets feature two external hand pockets, one small sleeve pocket, an internal mesh pocket, and one internal pocket with a zip closure. If you build heat on deep-snow laps, the underarm vents are a lifesaver, and the powder skirt helps keep base layers dry.Ī soft flannel backer provides a bit of warmth for cooler days on the chair lift. From blustery conditions to blower powder, the three-layer GORE-TEX fabric is waterproof, breathable, and blocks wind well.Īnd the seams are fully sealed to bar moisture. The designs feature a durable yet buttery 80-denier (70 in the Sentinel) nylon face fabric, so we don’t need to worry about exploring the glades or playing fetch with an excited pooch at the base. These ski jackets are hands down some of our favorites ever made. While both of these ski jackets are an investment, they continue to be at the top of our stack because they’re so functional, perform exceptionally well, withstand years of abuse, and look good. Arc’teryx delivers these tough, flexible shell jackets for tackling big mountain ski lines at the resort or in the backcountry: the Arc’teryx Sabre for men and the Arc’teryx Sentinel Jacket for women ($700).

The outsiders author1/31/2024 Us: How much input did you have in the film? You mentioned cowriting the script. You know, I wrote it over three times before the publishers ever saw it and then I wrote it again with their suggestions. Even by the time I wrote this I knew it was the end. Us: Have you ever considered writing a sequel? The first reviewers were like, “This young man has written this book …” Then I went to New York and did a bunch of interviews. It’s because they thought first reviewers were going to see this book, see the subject matter and decide a girl wouldn’t know anything about it. It was my publisher’s idea because they wanted to fool the first reviewers. I thought, well, if I wrote this and said a girl was doing this, nobody would believe it. I was playing football and going to rodeos. I couldn’t identify with anything the female culture was doing at that time. To this day, most of my closest friends are guys. I was watching this and everybody following these rules without questioning where they came from or why we should be following them or anything. You had to limit your friendships to those that were in your group. I grew up in a greaser neighborhood, and I got put into what you’d call AP classes these days. The whole class warfare thing was absolutely going on in my high school. Us: Was it based on the experiences you were going through at the time? There wasn’t anything realistic being written about teen life at that time. I liked writing since I learned how to read, and I had been writing for about eight years when I wrote The Outsiders, so it wasn’t just all of sudden I could sit and write a book. I went back and put in more details, flashbacks, new little asides. ![]() The year I was 16, my junior year of high school, was the year I really put the work in. The first draft was about 40 pages long, single-spaced type. Us: What inspired you to write The Outsiders? Hinton: Pretty old! How many writers get to experience this, though? I’m trying to enjoy it. Us Weekly: How does this monumental anniversary make you feel? Hinton attends the 14th annual Los Angeles Times Festival of Books – Day 2 at UCLA on April 26, 2009, in Los Angeles.

Esxi virtual disk map1/31/2024 Fragmented files slow read and write disk performance. The gaps can be empty or occupied by blocks that belong to other files. File fragmentationįragmentation is when the blocks of one file are scattered across the volume, and there are gaps between them. SFBs are used for thin provisioned disks. The portions of a provisioned disk that don’t fit LFBs, are located on SFBs. LFBs are primarily used to create thick provisioned disks and swap files. VMFS 6 can also use large file blocks (LFB), which are 512 MB in size, to improve performance when creating large files. The size of small file blocks (SFB) in VMFS 6 is 1 MB. Don’t confuse small file blocks with the default 1-MB blocks. VMFS 6 introduces a new concept for using small file blocks and large file blocks. The size of a sub-block is 64 KB for VMFS 6 and 8 KB for VMFS 5. Sub-blocks help save storage space when files smaller than 1 MB are stored so that they don’t occupy the entire 1-MB block. VMware utilizes sub-block allocation for small directories and files with VMFS 6 and VMFS 5. You cannot change the block size for VMFS 5 and VMFS 6. The block size has an impact on the maximum file size and defines how much space the file occupies. Extents rely on the underlying partitions. A VMFS volume can be created by using one or multiple extents. A VMFS datastore is a logical container using the VMFS file system to store files on a block-based storage device or LUN. VMware VMFS is optimized for storing big files because VMDK virtual disks typically consume a large amount of storage space. VMFS 6 was released in vSphere 6.5 and is used in vSphere 6.7, vSphere 7.0, and newer versions such as vSphere 8.Both GPT and MBR are supported (previous VMFS versions support only MBR). Support of the GPT partition layout was added. However, ESXi 5.5 supports a maximum of 2 TB for the size of VMDK virtual disks. The volume (file system) size was increased to 64 TB, and the maximum VMDK file size was increased to 62 for VMFS 5. VMFS 5 is used starting from VMware vSphere 5.x.The maximum logical unit number (LUN) size is 2 TB. Support for directory structure was added in this version. VMFS 3 was used on ESXi Server 3.x and ESXi Server 4.x in vSphere.VMFS 2 didn’t have a directory structure. VMFS 2 was used on ESX Server 2.x and sometimes on ESX 3.x.Concurrent access by multiple servers was not supported. This version of VMware VMFS didn’t support clustering features and was used only on one server at a time. ![]() Here is a short overview of VMFS versions to track the main changes and features. VMware VMFS has evolved significantly since the release of version one. VMFS operates on disks attached to ESXi servers but not on computers running VMware Workstation or VMware Player. The VMFS file system can be created on SCSI-based disks (directly attached SCSI and SAS disks) and on block storage accessed via iSCSI, Fibre Channel (FC), and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE). VMware vSphere VMFS functions as a volume manager and allows you to store VM files in logical containers called VMFS datastores. VMFS is a high-performance reliable proprietary file system, designed to run virtual machines (VMs) in a scalable environment – from small to large and extra-large data centers. It was created to make storage virtualization for VMs more efficient. Virtual Machine File System (VMFS) is a cluster file system that is optimized for storing virtual machine files, including virtual disks in VMware vSphere. This blog post covers VMware VMFS features, how they work with other vSphere features, and the advantages of VMFS for storing VM files and running VMs. To provide reliable, effective storage that is compatible with vSphere features, VMware created its own file system called VMFS. It provides a wide range of enterprise features to run virtual machines (VMs). VMware vSphere is the most commonly deployed virtualization platform for data centers. |
